The 48-hour general strike called by the Campaign for Just and Fair Delimitation (JFD), asserting that census update and delimitation cannot be conducted before updating the NRC, has concluded successfully. No untoward incidents were reported. Strict security measures were widely taken.
During this campaign, strict blockades and various protests were carried out in wide areas across the state. Public meetings were also held in various places resolving that census cannot be conducted without updating the NRC. Following the announcement by the JFD, an agitation to march to the residences of the state's MLAs to submit memorandums demanding NRC implementation has also begun today.
As part of this campaign, members of the Mayang Imphal Apunba Meira Paibi Lup submitted a memorandum to the residence of Mayang Imphal AC MLA Robindro, demanding the implementation of NRC. Since MLA Robindro was away, the memorandum was handed over to his family members. Robindro's representative, Kongham Mangalman, assured that the demand of the public would be conveyed to the relevant authorities.
